Building Strong

Whether you plan to go Turbo or Supercharged, you will run into the exact same issues with the car. Here we will detail what your factory equipment is capable of, and what upgrade options are available.
The Nuts and Bolts....
Upgrading the Quad 4's internal hardware should be the first priority when building strong for elevated power.  For instance, the Head bolts and Main Cap bolts are "torque to yeild" style bolts. By definition, this means they are tightened to the point they physically stretch.  We've seen Turbo Engines that have actually streched these bolts out even longer becuase of higher internal forces, and lifted the head up off the deck, and ovaled the Head Gasket.
Solutions....
To solve these issues, you should invest in some cheap insurance for your engine and go with some ARP brand Hardware. ARP offers superior tensle strenth hardware, that does NOT strech.
Head Stud Kit =   135.00
Mains Stud Kit =   100.00

Head Gaskets...
We are firm believers in the findings that the stock Felpro Head gasket is suffencient upto at least 15PSI.  However, if you are going higher than that lever, or want extra insurance, SCE Gaskets offers a Copper Head Gasket for our engines.  It has a stainless steel firerign, and print-o-seal around the oil and coolant jackets.
SCE ICE Titan Copper Gasket = 160.00
Connecting Rods...
Stock rods on the right, Eagle H-Beam rods on the left... the differance is obvious.  The Eagle rods come factory issued with ARP Cap Bolts, these things are absolutely bullet proof.

Eagle H-Beams for Quad 4 = 375.00
Forged Pistons...
Forged pistons are a MUST for F/I cars.  They will be experiencing very violent conditions during your tuning process, and are built to take that abuse and like it. They are not bulletproof, but these Ross Forged units offer the best resistance to Tuning Errors possible. They come with Total Seal Piston rings, and new Wrist Pins
